Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some common questions about Curious DesignsDesigns

91% of customers in South Africa report that they would happily use an online resource or knowledge base like an FAQ page if it were tailored to the answers they sought.

Nope! We work with businesses of all sizes, in all industries! We named ourselves “Curious Designs” because we find our inspiration through the stories and feeling of being on an adventure.

Branding includes everything from brand conception, naming, logo design, to the colour and font selection. Your brand is your company’s identity and it is deeply embedded in everything you do. That is why we take the time to understand your business and industry to create a brand that fully reflects who you are as a company.

Our approach to brand naming involves an initial “discovery meeting” where we take the time to learn all about your product/service, values and preferences. From there, our creative team will research ideas for names individually, review them as a group and then finally provide you with a narrowed down list of the best names for you to review. For the logo design process, we have highly experienced in-house graphic designers that put in the work, do the research on your company and spend the time to design several custom logo concepts and variations. We also take the time to test the logo concepts to see how they would work on different media types (web, print, digital ads, signage, clothing etc.).

Design is a collaborative process – we try our best to understand what you are looking for, but we can’t read your mind!

The more specific feedback you can give us, the more we can refine our designs to your requirements. If you “can’t put a finger” why something isn’t working for you, talk to us! Communication is key, and the more we understand you, the better the product we can create for you.

That depends entirely on the project! A complicated project can take months, while a simple one can be done in a matter of days.

Our ability to complete a project also hinges largely on your response time. We rely on your feedback to create a great piece of work, so the sooner you respond to us, the faster we can move forward. We will be able to discuss a more concrete time frame during your consultation.

We have flat rates for our most commonly requested projects and custom quotes for jobs with unique requirements.

We like to discuss each new project with you to determine the scope of each project, how much work will be involved, the timeline, etc. Once we have a thorough understanding of your needs, we can suggest a quote that will encompass all of your needs. We usually quote on set project fee, based on the initial scope, so that you know the costs up front.

No, our fees are based on how much work will be involved in creating a great product for you.

Since we are not willing to compromise on the quality of our work, we also cannot negotiate on our rates. However, if your budget is constrained, we can reduce the scope of the project, or break it down into phases.

When you work with a creative agency, you get access to an entire team of designers, developers, copywriters and project managers all under one roof.

There is also increased accountability and professionalism expected from creative agencies. With agencies, you can read online reviews ahead of time on Google, Facebook, and other online platforms. Freelancers don’t have the same level of online transparency. You must rely on the references they give you

We want you to be confident in your choice to work with us. It’s our goal to design products that you are completely in love with. That’s why we take extra care to make sure you’re satisfied throughout the process.

n very rare cases, if you’re still not satisfied, you can choose to cancel the contract. You will just settle up the work that has already been created, with no need to pay for work that has not been started. When you complete the payment of the invoice, we will send you the final files that we worked on together, and that’s it!

This completely depends on what you need. It takes longer to build a 1000 page megasite than a smaller eight page brochure website.

We like to work with all sorts and sizes of businesses and individuals, and we bring the same skills used to support our celebrity and big business clients to the work we do for smaller clients.

We’re just as keen to work with small businesses as we are large ones, and as a local firm we’re ideally placed to understand the needs of growing organisations.

It most certainly will! More people are accessing the web via small screens than ever, and the trend is likely to carry on.

If your site doesn’t display or work properly on a mobile or tablet screen, you risk losing a big chunk of your potential audience. It means mobile responsive web design is essential these days. Every website we create is mobile responsive.

The age-old question! It completely depends on what you need, but you can rest assured we deliver the best possible value for money and it won’t break the bank.

Why not ask for a quote? There’s no obligation and we won’t sulk if you say ‘no’!

Let’s face it: the world’s gone social. In fact, 30% of all time (and counting) spent online is allocated to social media.

If you want to get in front of people, social media is the way to do it. Whether you’re interested in brand awareness, sponsored content, or a combination of both, we can help!

The short answer: it depends. While Facebook is a great starting point, we like to get to know each client on an individual basis.

Because every brand is unique, deciding which platform(s) to spend time on relies on factors like where your audience is, what products and/or services your business provides and the goals you wish to achieve.

Very. Your company’s social media strategy should absolutely include video, especially for platforms like Instagram and YouTube.

Every mainstream social media channel can support video assets, and 81 percent of businesses use video marketing to boost brand awareness and sales.

Everyone. Every business needs a social media presence. It doesn’t matter if you run a small mom-and-pop shop or a large national company. Social media is an essential piece of your business marketing strategy.

Social platforms help you connect with your customers, increase awareness about your brand, and boost your leads and sales. With more than three billion people around the world using social media every month, the users and engagement on major platforms just keep increasing.

This is always a good place to start—consulting is a vague field to the average person. Therefore, many people might not even realize that they need or could benefit from consulting services.

This is your chance to educate them and to show off your skills. If people don’t know what a consultant is or does, how can they know that they need one? It might seem like a simple question to you, an industry expert, but to the average user, it’s a big question that gets huge hits in search engine results.

First, note that we ask “why”, not “if”—this eliminates the chance for people to think they don’t need a business consultant.

Use this question to point out all the perks that come from working with a consultant and help people see what value you have to offer for their business. SMBs, especially, can stand to gain a lot of valuable insight because they may not be as familiar with the consulting industry as others in business.

This is a question on everyone’s list. People like to know prices, even when they don’t realize it’s something that can’t just be quoted outright.

Sure, there are “average” rates for consultants, and you can use this area to discuss what your rates are or how much the average business spends on consulting, but you will never be able to give people a locked-in price.

Of course, here’s the million-dollar question. And yet, how are you supposed to answer a question of such magnitude and with so many variables? Here’s where you can point out examples of what you’ve done for clients in the past.

You can also explain how you help businesses set goals and make strategic moves that help propel them forward in their growth, and so forth. It’s another chance to sell yourself and the value of consulting services in a way that informs people but also inspires them to take action.
